GRANT GUIDELINES & APPLICATION

GCE Foundation is accepting grant and contribution proposals every year.

The GCE Diabetes Fund is managed by GCE Group and GCE Foundation.
The mission of the Foundation is to provide financial support to researchers and to innovative and promising type 2 diabetes research programs and projects that will lead to a medical treatment for this chronic disease and the complications caused by it.

FIELDS OF INTEREST

In order to maximize the effectiveness of the organization’s grant and financial assistance, the organization will support qualified research and researchers in type 2 diabetes research programs and projects. GCE Foundation accepts applications from researchers worldwide who are working to find a treatment for type 2 Diabetes. Applicants can apply from outside Canada.

PRIORITY GRANTS AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.

GCE Foundation will accept applications to support innovative and promising research projects that will lead to a cure for type 2 diabetes. The Foundation will accept projects which directly accelerate a cure for type 2 diabetes or inform the understanding of the disease by a related or complementary mechanism of action.  Researchers currently working on other autoimmune diseases are also encouraged to apply, provided that the proposed project is focusing directly on type 2 diabetes and supports the mission of the organization.

TYPES OF SUPPPORT.
GCE Foundation hopes its financial support will help catalyze innovative research and researchers. Applications can be made for short term or long term projects (up to 5 years projects). Progress reports will be requested for all funded grants and will have to be submitted to the main researcher of the organization. GCE Foundation keep a strict confidentiality policy with the donations received as well as the researchers who apply for a Grant. The organization wants to make sure that the researchers we support and help can focus on their research and projects and not on being afraid of being circumvented. GCE Foundation will consider additional financial support for worthy projects, yet it should not be assumed that there will be always continued funding. A private consultation with the main researcher and with the Director of the Organization will be held after the Grant is terminated to evaluate each project on case by case basis.

GCE Foundation will make grants to support:

  • Research programs and projects that will lead to a cure for type 2 diabetes (and supplies and equipment as it pertains to such projects; salaries; advisors; and international collaborations).
  • Researchers who need help and financial support in order to make progression in their specific research related to Type 2 Diabetes.
  • GCE Foundation may also help and financially support patients or family who are affected by Type 2 Diabetes.

GCE Foundation does not make grants and contribution for:

  • Projects not on type 2 diabetes; research using embryonic stem cells, human fetal tissue or human embryos; hospital and university general fund drives; and general operating costs of hospitals, research institutes, buildings, etc.

GCE Foundation keep the right to review all expenditures on grants and has the right to revoke any grant that is mismanaged. At times, a select subset of recipients will present their data to the main researcher and to the Director of GCE Foundation.

SUPPORT AMOUNTS & NUMBER OF GRANTS

The contribution amounts and the numbers of grants will depend on the donations received and the funds available from the previous year. The organization will consider financial support and assistance ranging in amounts of $10,000 to $700,000 and depending on the availability of funds.
